REvents is a remote management system built initially for Eudora Internet Mail Server (EIMS). With REvents, the email server administrator can provide a completely customizable web interface for managing domains and accounts in EIMS. The web interface is simple enough to allow administrators to give users direct access to managing their own email accounts, relieving much of the support burden from IT organizations. Built in security features allow administrators to limit which domains and functionality individual users are able to access, making REvents ideal for hosting and colocation companies providing email services to hundreds or thousands of domains. REvents is compatible with EIMS v3.1 and above. With EIMS v3.1 being in late beta, REvents will soon be entering a public beta stage, as well. Current development and testing schedules have a mid- to late- first quarter 2002 release date of the REvents v1.0.0. The public beta of REvents, to begin approximately January 15th, 2002 (give or take a few days), is open to everyone to participate in. The beta period will be used to fine tune the current feature set of REvents, work out any final issues that still exist with the software (it has been used in production at Deep Sky for over a year, so there should be very few problems still existing), and prepare for the full release of REvents v1.0.0. |
The beta testing for REvents is free and open to the public. You must be using EIMS v3.1 or above, or any of the public betas of EIMS v3.1 available after December 21st, 2001. REvents consists of two applications that work in tandem. One, the REvents Spooler, is a very small translator and security application which runs on the same CPU as any EIMS v3.1 application to be controlled (yes, more than one can be controlled at a time). The other, the REvents Server, is the full web serving engine for configuring the EIMS application(s); it is best to dedicate a separate CPU for the running of the REvents Server. If you would like to participate in the public beta of REvents, fill in the following form. You will be subscribed to the REvents mailing list (to become active once the REvents beta period starts) and will be the first receive information for downloading and working with REvents:
